One of the oldest findings of the dress coats for winters were those worn by the Mongols.
In fact, those styles continue to be worn, till date. Though they are modified in terms of cuts, swings, lengths, colors and the kind of work done on them. However, yet one cannot ignore the fact, that the present day womens winter dress coats can find initial connections to those worn by the Mongols.
In fact, whether summer or winter they were dress coats. In the summer season they wore light frock coats and in the winters they wore the wadded coat. In fact, one can see age distinction in the styles worn. While the elder wore modest and plain coats; the youngsters were stylish coats. This continues, as a general trend, till date.
Another interesting factor brought down through the ages is that women have always worn adorned clothes. This difference can be seen in the dress coats worn by men and women of today. The men's coats are simply stylized in cuts. But, women's coats are further adorned, distinguishing them from the male-counterpart coats.
So, while one feels that wearing a dress coat is about keeping with the times. The fact, is that this piece of clothing has been used since historic times. After all, in every age people have been conscious of what they wear. It is all a matter of improvisation as humanity moves from one era to another.
